Hi Bruce,
Thank you for visiting the website, it is in a constant state of change. The story of how all of this massive project got started is quite lengthy and I should post something on the website soon for those that might be interested. I will try and sum it up here for you quickly though. I live, sleep and drink radio and this has gone on since I was 10 years old and I come from radio people on both sides of my family, but not ham radio. My father and my uncle on my mothers side were commercial ops. My dad never did much with his ticket but my uncle did, he became a commercial op at WAX in Hialeah Fla. and I think he became one of the managers. WAX belonged to the United Fruit Co. I saw that station before it shut down. My Dad taught me the code when I was 10 and I have used it ever since. I recently got involved with restoring a WW II destroyers radio gear, then one thing led to another and now have a coastal station license to work any ship out there that still has CW gear on MF including museum ships. We plan to expand to HF if money and land permits. We need land desparately to make a fully operational station at full legal power of up to 40 KW. Have you visited www.radiomarine.org ? That is a perfect description of what our group is trying to accomplish. Getting a license was not difficult at all, I'll go into detail later if you want to know.
