Last Week's VHF Auroral Bonanza

Postby K5TEN » Tue Jul 28, 2009 5:45 pm

Last Week's VHF Auroral Bonanza included many US stations (East Coast) working into Portugal and the Azores on 6M. The Aurora was very strong and stations as far south as Missiori took advantage of the band openinds on 50mHz. Sad to say here in Arkansas we only had E-skip on 10M, but it was far better than it has been. I worked a number of VA/NC/FL stations during the openings on 10M.

What say you Tomas? Have we seen our last Cycle 23 sunspot with the "mini-spot" last week? And soon--frequent Cycle 24 spots? Enquiring minds want to know.

I am currently working on a full sized 5/8 wave vertical ground plane for 20M to be finished this weekend on the mountainside QTH. Also: 6M quad loop up 50".

Let's rock on Cycle 24!!
