Shortwave radio that talks.

Postby Smooth » Sat Aug 01, 2009 7:39 pm

Well, I got interested in shortwave radio when I read about numbers stations. Those little ice cream truck from hell diddies they play and the counting of the numbers is just creepy as all hell. I will NOT and I repeat I WILL NOT!!!! listen to any of these at night by myself.
Anyway, my point is, I need a shortwave radio that talks. That is, anounces the frequencies and other things. You see, I am blind and there for I would need a shortwave radio that talks. That is why I don't have one yet. I know they are out there, I just don't know where to look. So if any of you could point me in the right dirrection, that would be great!!! I've heard of the, so-called shortwave on internet.... I'm like "what? that's not shortwave man." I want the "real" thing!!!! Anyway, thanks for reading.

And I don't want/need to broadcast. Just want to listen/look around on the shortwave. And I also need to know the frequency coverage and if it has SSB support because I am interested in listening to ships, ETC. Keep in mind, it has to talk. I may be limiting my options here, I don't know.

Hello. I spent about an hour searching for a radio for you on the net. Ive only found one that did what you asked for. As far as reception and how good the tuner is, well I couldnt really get a feel for it. Its a bit pricy too, at 199 dollars. It only has a "up" and "down" button on it for tuning your station, and it didnt say the incriments in which it tunes by hitting the up or down button.
